The eyewear show, Mido, has been postponed until the end of April to ensure “the best business conditions” for attendees.

The event was due to take place on 12 to 14 February, but Mido chairman, Giovanni Vitaloni, explained in a statement: “It seems fairly clear to us that an international fair held in February would risk a reduced number of participants, both exhibitors and visitors.”

By establishing new dates for the show, now to be held from 30 April to 2 May, the event organisers hope for “safer and easier travel between countries” in what is a “strategic time of the year for business.”

Launched in June last year, the digital platform for the event is already available for delegates to make initial contacts in the run-up to the April show.

Vitaloni suggested the new dates enable Mido “to return to fulfil our mission: creating and maximising international business opportunities while conferring prestige and vitality to a strategic sector.

“We are also working to be ready to welcome exhibitors and visitors in maximum safety, following the most updated regulations,” he emphasised.

Last month, event organisers assured delegates that the show layout would be aligned with “essential safety protocols.”

Rules for accessing the show were described as the same as those seen across public events in Italy, such as social distancing, compulsory use of masks and a ‘green pass’ (an EU digital COVID-19 certificate, certifying full vaccination, recovery or a negative test result).

Speaking at the time, Vitaloni shared that, though the 2022 show carries the theme of “sustainability, innovation and the future… the real concept that unifies the entire industry at the show is resilience.”

More details on the event can be found on the Mido website.
