Optometry Today 's new guide for practice teams

Optometry Today  publishes a new edition of its Practice team guide, in partnership with the Vision team at Johnson & Johnson

Working in tandem is a print and digital resource designed to serve as a development tool for practice owners and the entire practice team, delivered in collaboration with the Association of Optometrists (AOP) and in partnership with the Vision team at Johnson & Johnson.

The guide will support the wider optometry practice team by addressing their training needs in areas including guidance on working to protect colleagues and patients from harassment and discrimination, improving the patient experience to create the perfect practice visit, and tips for engaging with patients on social media.

Wendy Steele, AOP Commercial Director, said: “The AOP recognises the impact of equipping practice teams with the tools necessary to deliver an excellent experience for patients. The guide has been designed to consolidate the skills of each team member to contribute to the success of the practice and support them in supporting their patients.”

The supplement covers key topics that will enhance the skills of the whole practice team, from key information on the increasingly important area of myopia management to contact lens advice for a more comfortable experience, and profiles on eyewear experts selecting the spectacles they would choose if stranded on a desert island.

Dr Rachel Hiscox, Professional Education and Development Lead at the Vision team at Johnson & Johnson, said: “At Johnson & Johnson, we are pleased to support practice team development as we recognise the vital importance of each member of the practice team in supporting delivery of excellent patient care.”

The 20-page guide was issued alongside the August/September edition of Optometry Today on 3 August. To access the guide online, visit: www.optometry.co.uk/practiceteamguide
