BCLA launches new contact lens course

The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) has launched a new contact lens course for optical assistants, which will be led by optometrist and staff development consultant, Sarah Morgan. 

Designed to be fun and informal, the course next month aims to help practice staff assist in generating new contact lens wearers, but will also help them to consider strategies for those wearers who are about to stop using contact lenses. 

The event, Gaining, retaining and maintaining your contact lens wearers, will take place on Wednesday, September 9, at the Ambassadors Bloomsbury Hotel in London.   

Commenting on the course, Ms Morgan said: “Optical staff are central to maintaining and growing contact lens customers. An employee who is knowledgeable about contact lenses is confident talking to customers who are thinking of buying, or stopping, contact lenses and can proactively support current users, is indispensable for a practice.” 

BCLA chief executive, Cheryl Donnelly, said: “We all need to gain, retain and maintain our contact lens wearer base. The course is suitable for any member of staff, from new starters to more experienced employees who are keen to contribute to the ongoing and long-term success of a practice. The event is open to BCLA members and non-members.
