AngioVue is the first commercial OCT angiography system

Aimed at the progressive independent
Haag-Streit UK has launched the AngioVue, the first commercial optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) system capable of imaging and displaying the function of the eyes’ microvasculature through a non-invasive procedure.

The innovative system uses a unique dyeless technique to quickly evaluate the functional blood flow to the retina and optic nerve. This enables the procedure to be performed in everyday clinical practice and, unlike fluorescein angiography, can be repeated as often as required, and with no risk to the patient.

The AngioVue features fast spectral-domain OCT (70,000 A-scans per second), motion correction technology and split spectrum amplitude decorrelation angiography and on face visualisation of 3D-OCT data.

OCT angiography allows scanning of 3–8mm of the optic disc and retina. On face visualisation of 3D-OCT data reveals the microvascular flow within virtual dissected layers of the retina, with segmentation automatically generating the layers of interest. Images can be adjusted by the user, for optimal viewing of the desired area.
