CooperVision has revealed plans to launch new Biofinity toric multifocal contact lenses in the UK and Ireland from April.

The company suggested that the new product could help eye care professionals “to keep wearers who are astigmatic in contact lenses as they become presbyopic.”

The new contact lens product combines the optical designs of CooperVision’s Biofinity toric and Biofinity multifocal products.

Krupa Patel, CooperVision’s head of professional services in the UK, said: “Biofinity toric multifocal extends the reliable performance of our Biofinity toric lenses to presbyopic patients.

“Practitioners throughout the UK and Ireland will soon have an easy-to-fit, familiar lens design they can count on to help keep toric wearers satisfied in contact lenses as they age into presbyopia,” Ms Patel added.

The company suggested the Biofinity toric multifocal has a 93% success rate on initial fitting (according to CVI Data), and more than 200,000 unique prescription options.

“Biofinity toric multifocal will soon be a valuable tool for addressing patients’ evolving vision needs,” Ms Patel added.

The lenses recently received CE marking in Europe, as well as approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.

The company confirmed that lens parameters and further product details will be made public in the coming months.
