The Eye Have It coalition, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of eye health, has been named as a finalist in the 2024 Communiqué Awards.

The campaign, then led by PR agency OVID Health, has been recognised within the Excellence in communications – policy/policy makers category, which is designed to acknowledge regional, national or European communications initiatives that have demonstrated value in intervention, and developing and broadening debate with governmental and other relevant stakeholders.

The Eyes Have It was established in 2021 as a national coalition to raise awareness of preventable sight loss and collectively push eye health on the political agenda. It comprises the AOP, the Macular Society, Fight for Sight/Vision Foundation, the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and Roche, which has funded the activities of the partnership.

AOP policy director, Carolyn Ruston, told OT: “The Eyes Have It partnership has been fundamental in raising the profile of the importance of eye health and the impact of preventable sight loss to government and other key policy and decision makers. The partnership will continue its campaign for a national eye care plan for England, the only UK country not to have one as well as continuing our lobbying endeavours across the UK.”

Reflecting on the award, Ruston added: “I am delighted OVID Health has been shortlisted for this high-profile Communiqué award on behalf of Roche and the eyes have it partners.”

The winners of the Communiqué Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 4 July.
