The AOP has shared the dates for a number of member engagement sessions in June that will inform its response to a consultation on planned reform of ophthalmic primary care services in Wales.

The Welsh Government is holding an eight-week consultation that seeks views on proposed changes to how optometry services are provided in primary care in Wales, in order to enable a new approach for delivery of services.

The AOP will respond to the proposals with, and on behalf of, members in Wales, as well as actively encouraging other interested bodies to join its response.

Members of the AOP leadership team will visit Swansea on 5 June to engage with members in Wales and inform the consultation response.

An additional online session will be held on 13 June for any members who are unable to attend in-person.

The consultation closes on 19 June. Responses can be submitted online, by email or post.

Members with any questions, or who would like further information about the consultation, are encouraged to contact the AOP policy team.

To learn out more about the AOP’s work in responding to consultations, read OT’s interview with Kathy Jones, AOP policy adviser, or find the AOP’s previous consultation responses on the AOP website.
