The AOP has arranged a series of focus groups to support locum members and discuss additional ways to help members through the coming months.

Developed as part of the AOP’s strategic partnership with Johnson & Johnson Vision to support locum members, the free virtual sessions will provide a space for locum members to discuss their current situation and to also offer an insight on issues faced at a local level.

The AOP explained that the insights shared in the focus group sessions will help to “further our thinking on additional ways that we can support our locum members for the remainder of the year.”

Feedback will also help to guide the AOP’s planning for 2021, ensuring support remains “relevant and accessible.”

The two sessions will be tailored to different groups of locum members. The first session, for which slots were quickly filled, meaning it is now fully-booked, will be focused around locum members who are working reduced hours, or who are currently unable to access work during the pandemic.

The second session will begin at 7pm on 3 September and will be for locum members who are actively working during the coronavirus pandemic. A number of spaces are still available for locum members interested in joining this session.

Members who attend the sessions will gain first access to book onto the locum-focused educational activity that the sessions will be contributing to, which is due to take place in autumn.

Locum members interested in participating in the 3 September virtual session should book their place with the AOP: https://www.aop.org.uk/events-and-education/events/2020/09/03/locum-focus-group

There will be no CET points available for attending the focus groups.
