Optometry graduates from the University of Bradford attended their 40-year reunion on 30 April.

Alumni from the class of 1983 travelled from as far afield as Guyana, Malaysia and New Mexico to attend the university tour followed by a dinner at Holdsworth House, Halifax.

Optometrist and event organiser, David Creswell, shared that they were welcomed by Professor Niall McLoughlin.

The group received an update regarding mechanisms of admission to optometry in Bradford and proposed changes going forward from September 2024.

A guided tour of the optometry department, the former site of ophthalmic optics clinics and the university campus followed.

“It was interesting to be back in those familiar surroundings, especially standing in front of the notice board where we habitually received our results,” he said.

Creswell shared that the event was a chance to catch up on what everyone had done over the past four decades.

“A great time was had by all and the consensus was ‘let’s not wait another 40 years until we do it again,” he said.
