Cam Sight chief executive recognised

Chief executive of the charity Cam Sight, Anne Streather, has been awarded an Honorary Fellow from Anglia Ruskin University.

Ms Streather was given the award by vice chancellor of the university, Professor Iain Martin, during a graduation ceremony in Cambridge on Monday (17 October).

Cam Sight is a Cambridge-based charity that provides practical and emotional support to people with sight loss, helping them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

The university has a positive working relationship with CamSight where all third-year optometry students take part in a Cam Sight training session designed to inform them of the range of voluntary sector services that are available to visually impaired people.

In addition, a referral system between Cam Sight and Anglia Ruskin University’s Eye Clinic provides the opportunity for students to engage with low vision patients.

Speaking about the fellowship, Professor Martin said: “The university’s connections with Cam Sight have been invaluable in our research. Thanks to Anne, this close collaboration continues to deliver enormous benefits for our staff and students, and most importantly Cambridgeshire’s visually impaired community.”

He added: “Anne’s passion for ensuring that patients receive the best possible service close to their home means we all benefit from her continued hard work.”
