Julian Davies Opticians expands to five practices

Julian Davies Opticians has expanded its portfolio to five sites with the acquisition of Stewart Greenberg Opticians in Whitchurch.

The practice was reopened on 5 September within a week of closing for refurbishment, in a £100k investment which also included new clinical and diagnostic equipment.

The equipment included a new optical coherence tomography device, auto phoropter, visual field screener and disability friendly combi unit.

The local optical group had four existing branches, in Newport, Usk, St Mellons and Llandaff.

Chris Tannorella, director and optometrist at Julian Davies Opticians, said: “We are very excited to be opening in Whitchurch and look forward to getting to know existing clients as well as welcoming new ones.

“We offer healthcare first and foremost but, being independent, we also identify and offer best value products and services to our client base, without compromising on quality in any way.”

The five existing members of staff in the Whitchurch practice have been joined by new team members.

Commenting on the location, Tannorella said: “Whitchurch offers a great community, which we look forward to becoming involved in. I’m based in North Cardiff with my wife and two young children and love all that the city has to offer.”

Tannorella joined the business as a partner in 2009, before taking over in 2015 when the founder, Julian Davies, retired. The business has more than tripled in size since he joined.

The local optical group offers enhanced shared care glaucoma services across Newport and Cardiff, as well as at-home services.
