Specsavers has announced the expansion of its Home Visits offering, with the establishment of a free hearing test at home service across the UK.

The multiple will be launching audiology Home Visits services across “key locations” throughout the UK in 2022, it confirmed, adding that a full rollout will follow. The service will be introduced in Edinburgh this month (May).

Specsavers Home Visits general manager, Melanie Roberts, explained that there is demand for the hearing service both at home and in care home settings.

She explained: “It’s our mission to help make eye care and hearing services accessible to all, and we want to deliver this with dedicated, highly-skilled, compassionate clinicians who can help to make such a huge difference to the lives of the people they visit.”

Specsavers confirmed that it is currently recruiting for audiologists to deliver the services, and there are opportunities for joint-venture partnerships for qualified audiologists and hearing aid dispensers within local home visit teams.

Roberts added: “Through our Home Visits service we know what a difference improved vision has for the people we visit, so we’re keen to offer the same support to those who are struggling with hearing loss. A pair of glasses or hearing aids can keep people connected to the outside world and vastly improve their quality of life. It can also help many of our patients to maintain their independence and continue to enjoy their passions and pastimes for years to come.”
