The founder of the Hakim Group will host a free webinar for independent practice owners this evening, during which he will share insight into the strategy that the company is adopting to support its practices in the current climate.

Optometrist Mr Hakim said that over the last 10 days he had been “inundated” with calls from peers who own practices as they “navigate through the unprecedented challenges before them” as a result of the impact that coronavirus (COVID-19) is having on their business.

Last week OT reported on the effect that the virus is having on optical practices, as well as measures featured in the Budget that aim to support businesses. These include a temporary business interruption loan scheme, additional help with rates for small businesses and help for small to medium businesses with the extra costs of COVID-19-related statutory sick pay.

Mr Hakim highlighted that most independent practice owners are currently attempting to curate information from many sources by themselves and said that the webinar aimed to bring people together to try to overcome these challenges.

He said that the Hakim Group has been working “flat out” to provide a strategy and guidance for its teams.

Mr Hakim added: “Given the fact that the information and action needed is immediate, there is very little time for practice owners to wait around to see how things unfold and it is clear that they need to be armed with strategy that they can work through depending on how things develop.”

The webinar will take place at 9pm this evening (19 March). To register for the webinar, click here.
