Sustainable eyewear brand, Coral Eyewear, has formed a partnership with Virgin Voyages, launching its first store onboard a cruise ship.

Travellers on the Scarlet Lady will be able to browse a selection of sustainably-made sunglasses in over 30 style and colour combinations.

Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady has a particular focus on sustainability, with onboard technology that reduces fuel demand by generating energy using heat from the ship’s engines, as well as purchasing carbon offsets.

Single-use plastics are also banned from the passenger experience on Virgin Voyages.

Coral Eyewear co-founder, George Bailey, said: “The entire team at Coral Eyewear is incredibly excited to launch our sunglasses on board Virgin Voyages. Scarlet Lady has completely changed the game when it comes to luxury travel and I can’t wait to see this partnership grow.”

Coral Eyewear frames are made from Econyl regenerated nylon, a material made with nylon waste, such as fishing nets, that would otherwise pollute the ocean.

Director of sustainability and social impact at Virgin Voyages, Jill Stoneberg, commented: “Part of our brand ethos is aligning with like-minded companies that are also looking to make a positive impact on our oceans.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Coral Eyewear to bring their eco-friendly and fashion-forward designs directly to our sailors.”

The new partnership follows a number of collaborations created by the brand in recent months, including becoming eyewear partner for the Pole to Pole Expedition. Led by British adventurer, Chris Ramsey, the challenge seeks to raise awareness of the issues of climate change, and the role electric vehicles can play in reducing carbon emissions, by driving from pole to pole in an electric car.

This year the brand has also been named an in-game partner for the racing game Grid Legends.
