The eyewear design and manufacturing group, Safilo, has signed a five-year global licensing agreement with the fashion brand, Dsquared2.
The agreement covers the design, manufacture and distribution of Dsquared2 branded eyewear.
The first optical and sunglass collections from the collaboration will be released for the 2022 spring/summer season.
The companies confirmed the collections, both for men and women, will be “hitting the market in January 2022.”
The Dsquared2 fashion brand was founded in 1995 by the Canadian designers and twins, Dean and Dan Caten. Commenting on the new agreement, the Catens, both founders and creative directors of the brand, said: “Eyewear is a very important product category for Dsqaured2.”
“We are very happy to start this new partnership with Safilo that will allow us to further strengthen our position in the segment.”
Angelo Trocchia, CEO of Safilo Group, said the partnership represented a “significant opportunity” for the eyewear company to grow in the luxury fashion category.
Trocchia suggested that bringing together “Dean and Dan Caten’s great stylistic talent, combined with the high market appreciation of this very distinctive brand,” along with Safilo’s capabilities, would ensure “excellent results.”
Dsquared2 has recently ended its previous license agreement with Marcolin. Expiring on 30 June 2021, the agreement had been in place since 2008.
