A slit lamp image of spherophakia has topped 168 entries from across the globe to win the Haag-Streit Slit Lamp Imaging Competition 2022.

Utpal Sarkar from Disha Eye Hospitals Barrackpore in Kolkata, India captured the winning image with a Haag-Streit BX 900 Imaging System.

The competition jury expressed admiration for Sarkar’s ability to capture the ciliary zonule in full focus over nearly the entire 360 degrees of the eye. Images were assessed for image quality, technical execution and disease interest, with the top ten images displayed online.

Rob Hancock, of Wirral University Teaching Hospital, placed second with an image of ocular albinism captured with an iris transillumination technique on a Haag-Streit BX 900 slit lamp.
