International sight saving charity Orbis has launched a podcast to explore how the sector has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The nine-episode Sightlines series discusses the fight against preventable blindness, how COVID-19 is impacting that fight, and how Orbis aims to overcome these challenges through cutting edge technologies and innovation.

The series explores how the charity has adapted to its “new normal” in 2020, and features expert clinicians from around the world. It is hosted by Dr Hunter Cherwek, vice president of clinical services at the charity.

Individual episodes cover subjects including how to treat trachoma and other infectious diseases during COVID-19, artificial intelligence (AI) and simulation, the importance of technologies such as telemedicine for adapting to changes on the ground during the pandemic, and the impact COVID-19 has had on Orbis’ Flying Eye Hospital.

The series is available to listen to on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, with new episodes being added until the end of December. An accompanying vodcast series can be viewed on YouTube.
