The right eyewear can make working much more comfortable and increase your productivity. The wrong eyewear can lead to eye strain, tiredness and headaches.

If you work with display screen equipment (DSE) your employer is obliged to arrange an eye test for you if you ask for one, and to provide glasses for you if you need them only for DSE use.

Employers are also obliged to provide safety glasses as part of their general obligation to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for employees who need it. But they don’t have to provide safety glasses that match your prescription. Most safety glasses can be worn over your own prescription spectacles, but you could talk to your employer about the possibility of paying toward prescription safety glasses.
